Laurent Benard is located in Mareuil-sur-Ay, Vallée de la Marne. It is a small RM Champagne House of about 2.5 ha managed by Michelle and Laurent Benard-Louis couple. The couple is responsible for from viticulture to the winemaking process.

Laurent Benard is the third-generation descendant of Champagne Bénard-Pitois, founded in 1878. The couple is also running 9.5 ha size Champagne L. Bénard-Pitois, which takes up most of their production. However, they wanted to produce organic champagne named after Laurent Benard. As a result, they launched Champagne Laurent Benard, separate from the preceding winery.

Laurent Benard first began its transition to organic in the 1990s and attempted to acquire Ecocert for only 1 ha as an experiment in 1995. It was in 2009 that they changed the entire vineyard of 2.5 ha to organic farming, and the process followed the regulation of Agriculture Biologique France. In 2012, along with the vineyard, winemaking also acquired its organic certification.

Mareuil-sur-Ay is located on the eastern part of Vallé de la Marne. It is the local producer that takes 83% of Pinot Noir, and 99% of the area is categorized as Premier Cru. Since it is close to Ay, the Grand Cru, it is considered to produce wine of similar quality.
